Science should be the perfect subject for children; they are inquisitive, always asking questions and looking for answers; this is exactly what science is about.
It is rather sad then that fewer children than ever are taking physics, chemistry and biology by the time they get to choose their high school subjects.
It has been touted in the press that the reason for this is that young children are led to believe that science is difficult and boring and nothing could be further from the truth; science can be as fascinating as magic and is always looking for the simplest explanation.
If you want your children to enjoy science, or if they are showing an interest themselves, try some experiments using common household objects to spark their imaginations:-
How to Make Pepper Jump
Fishing For Ice
Floating a Ping Pong Ball
How to Make a Submarine
How to Suck an Egg into a Bottle
