How to Cook Brisket

Brisket is a cut of meat from the breast or lower chest. While all meat animals have a brisket, the term is most often used to describe beef or veal. Brisket can be cooked different ways such as smoked, roast and grilled.

Brisket is a tough cut meat and so whatever style that is chosen to cook it, must be slow enough and done under low heat. This is to ensure that at the end of cooking the meat it is juicy and tender.

Required tools

▪    Knife

▪    Cutting board

▪    Shallow dish

▪    Grill

▪    Sauce pan

▪    Large plate

Required materials

▪    5 pound brisket

▪    Marinade of your choice

▪    1 tsp vegetable oil

▪    1 tsp salt

▪    1 tsp black pepper

▪    2 tsp garlic powder

▪    2 tsp onion powder

▪    2 tsp cayenne pepper

▪    2 tsp brown sugar

▪    1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

▪    1 cup water

Instructions

1.Trim excess fat from Brisket on a cutting board as marinades can’t be absorbed through the fat.

  1. Place brisket in a shallow dish and pour the marinade of your choice over it. Let this stay for five hours or more in the refrigerator.
  2. Remove marinade brisket from fridge and add; salt, black pepper, garlic, onion, and cayenne pepper. Incorporate the seasoning with meat.
  3. Place brisket on the grill under low heat and cover.
  4. Meanwhile prepare base sauce, heat saucepan and add vegetable oil. Then add the leftover marinade, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and water to sauce pan. Simmer for a period of ten minutes.
  5. Base brisket ever half of an hour, so meat will be juicy on serving.
  6. Cooking time is about five hours.
  7. Remove cooked brisket from grill onto a large plate. Wait fifteen minutes and then slice meat.

Tips & warnings

Remember to base brisket frequently with sauce and keep your grill temperature low.
