Healthy Living with a new Bread Maker

Panasonic Bread Maker

Have you ever seen any of those badges that say, I ♥ NY, or I ♥ SHOPPING? Whenever I see one I always wonder if they do one for bread makers, because if they did I would happily walk around wearing it.

You see, last October we needed to replace our old bread maker, and since then our new machine has been a constant source of joy to me. When it first arrived I wanted to put it through its paces, so as to speak, and so began with a simple small white loaf, and then became a bit more adventurous and tried Naan bread.

Our old machine always made perfect Naan Bread, but using the new bread maker felt a bit like venturing into unknown territory. Well it didn’t let me down. It was, as usual, the ideal side dish to a home-made curry.

One of my daughter’s favourite treats are Chelsea Buns. So a few weeks back I made my first batch in our new machine. Even though I say it myself I thought they turned out really well. And according to my daughter, who scoffed down two while they were still hot, they were the best she’d tasted.

So now I’m being asked all the time to make more and more different breads and cakes, so much so I’m not sure if our bathroom scales can take our extra weight.

When my old bread maker did finally gave up the ghost I admit I felt as though I’d lost my right arm. With money being so tight these days I wasn’t sure I could justify the outlay of replacing it, but after a few days I realised I simply couldn’t do without one.

So I set about searching the internet for a worthy replacement, and from what I could see the Panasonic SD-2501wxc looked to be the most likely candidate.

It had  all the benefits of my old machine plus a few new things I liked the look of, such as a 13 hour delay timer. My old machine never had that, and frankly now I don’t know how I ever got by without it.

Anyway, it didn’t take too long to persuade my husband to part with the money after I pointed out that if we didn’t replace our broken machine there would be no more dough nuts or crumpets he’d become so fond of.

So, one afternoon we sat down at the computer and placed an order for our new bread maker. The next day we got an email saying it was ready to be shipped out to our home in Spain, and a couple of days later it turned up in the courier van.

Now we can wake up each morning to a fresh loaf of bread thanks to the machines delay timer.

I never realised how much these machines had advanced and improved over the years, but this new one is absolutely brilliant and so much easier to clean than the old one. But the thing I like most about it is that I can easily control how much salt and sugar goes into each loaf I bake. I can even bake gluten-free or high-fibre bread too.

I’ve always tried to ensure my family eats healthily and this new bread maker certainly makes that job a lot easier. I know a lot of people have had bread makers and hardly ever take them out of the cupboard, but frankly I couldn’t be without ours.

So if you ever see anyone walking around wearing a badge that says I ♥ MY BREAD MAKER think of me, in fact you never know, it might even be me!
