It seems like every time you are in a grocery store, you can’t help but notice the gossip magazine headlines talking about the latest Hollywood break-up. American society tends to dwell on the latest gossip surrounding the divorce of a couple like Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. When our culture focuses on this negativity, it teaches our children that marriage is not really a true commitment between two people. Perhaps if we started focusing on those Hollywood marriages that have withstood the test of time, we would be able to encourage more people to work out their differences and stay married. Marriage is a beautiful blessing in life, and here are five celebrity marriages that have actually been able to weather the rough storms of Hollywood.
Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne
When the reality show, “The Osbournes,” became a hit sitcom on television, viewers had the first insight into the strong marriage of Sharon and Ozzy. It is evident that these two people have a marriage that is based on respect and mutual understanding. Sure, Ozzy Osbourne may have bitten off the head of a bat in concert. Maybe his costumes tended to be a bit on the dark-side at a few moments in his career. The reason this marriage works so well is because Sharon Osbourne accepts the demands of Ozzy’s career. She understands that his career requires him to do crazy or unpopular things to cater to his fans.

When their son passed away after a sudden seizure in 2009, the marriage of Kelly Preston and John Travolta faced a devastating loss. While the tragedy was felt deeply between the two loving parents, they decided to honor the life of their son and become closer. They decided to allow their marriage to become stronger and have shown this to the public. Kelly Preston recently became pregnant with another child in 2010, and this showed just how strong the marriage between the two individuals was.

After divorcing Robert Kardashian in 1990, Kris Kardashian decided to move on with her life and marry Bruce Jenner. After the marriage, Kris Kardashian decided to take the name of Jenner, and she became Kris Jenner. As a former Olympic gold medalist, Bruce Jenner has shown what true love really means. He has served as a role model for all of the Kardashian children after the recent death of Robert Kardashian in 2003. The marriage of Kris Jenner and Bruce Jenner can be seen on the reality hit sitcom, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Watching the show, you can see the roles that each plays in the upbringing of the large family. Kris Jenner seems to be completely content in playing the role of the “good cop” while Bruce Jenner plays the role of concerned father and “bad cop.” Somehow, the chaos works out and shows the commitment that these two people have for each other.

The reason this marriage works so well is because Tracy Pollan understands the needs of Michael’s illness, Parkinson’s Disease. The couple has stayed together throughout the years as the illness has continued to worsen for Michael J. Foxx.
